Saudi Arabia is charting an ambitious course in aviation, setting the stage for transformative developments under Vision 2030 and the Saudi Aviation Strategy. This initiative, as highlighted by the President, aims to position the Kingdom as a leader in the Middle Eastern aviation sector.
Vision 2030: A New Era in Aviation
The Saudi Aviation Strategy represents a monumental commitment, with an anticipated investment of $100 billion and a vision to serve 330 million passengers by 2030. This strategy is comprehensive, covering airports, airlines, aircraft, and services, including cargo and logistics.
Enhancing global connectivity is at the core of this strategy, with plans to expand services to over 250 destinations through 29 airports. Furthermore, the strategy forecasts a significant transformation in air freight and logistics, with an ambitious target to boost air freight capacity from 0.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons by the end of the decade.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
Saudi Arabia is also keen on strengthening its global partnerships, particularly with India, a nation with a burgeoning aviation market. The President underscored the potential of the Indian civil aviation sector, which is the third largest in domestic volume and is on track to become the third largest overall by 2026.
As part of these efforts, an invitation has been extended to the Future Aviation Forum, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from May 20th to 22nd, 2024, marking another step in Saudi Arabia’s journey to becoming a global aviation powerhouse.
